On the issues, "people talk about the potency of the health-care issue, but from our own internal polling, the more potent issue here in Massachusetts was terrorism and the treatment of enemy combatants," says Fehrnstrom.
A tragedy of gargantuan, mammoth proportions. Our economic freedom underpins our economic strength. More importantly, our economic freedom alone -- and not gov't policies -- has helped millions of illegal immigrants raise themselves and their families out of poverty.
"Having decided as a young man to identify himself as African-American, Obama was in the category of the dispossessed...This fact immediately commended him to Western intellectuals at the same time that it enabled him to be the plausible representative of the teeming masses of th …
The 1970s ODed Liberalism, while the 2000s ODed Progressivism.
The delusions of Progressives replete & vivify this article. Calvin Coolidge on the 4th of July, 1926:
The article summarizes the latest Rasmussen poll. Please peruse the 2008 Election: Pollster Report Card article. Rasmussen is #1, while Gallup, ABC, and CBS are near the bottom.
A tax policy that confiscated 100% of the taxable income of everyone in America earning over $500,000 in 2006 would only have given Congress an extra $1.3 trillion in revenue.
As Alinsky wrote in Rules for Radicals, for revolutionary change to take place:
The professors, by contrast (to the people), expect to be deferred to, not to be the ones deferring. Their "intellectual arrogance" is a consequence of the assumptions of progressivism, an ism that treats progress as the fundamental reality.
Why an artifact? Email me if you care. What is this 'article', then? Merely a response post to another article. iow, this article is not an integral one, and absolutely requires the context of that other article to make sense. What article? Email me if you care. lff,

There is only one metric that really matters: Fed'l gov't spending as a % of GDP. Screw talking about Democrats vs Republicans, liberals vs conservatives, or Obama vs Bush. Fed'l gov't spending as a % of GDP says more than all the political rhetoric combined.
An overwhelming majority of (Silicon) Valley residents would place themselves on the freedom side and against the state... Thus it was always odd that Silicon Valley voted for the most statist-inclined presidential candidate since FDR.
Nice column. Full of nuggets & basics; aka, simple wisdom. How's this for a twist? For the market to begin to function normally, investors need a guarantee that the government won't do anything, not a promise that it will.
To paraphrase the article, the US is becoming France. This article has already been seeded using a different URL. I decided to reseed it, however, because we all need to realize the extent to which the USA is becoming France.
Commenting on a blog post I seeded, Pat N said: What's worse, calgal...a campaign imploding or a presidency imploding? We don't have President Obama. We have President Pelosi. President Pelosi. Don't you love it?

Last night President Obama delivered a speech to the House Democrats in defense of their fiscal stimulus package. Obama's speech is so breath-takingly superficial and fundamentally dishonest that it must be read to be (dis)believed.
After Obama's miraculous 2008 presidential campaign, it was clear that at some point the magical mystery tour would have to end... I thought the awakening would take six months. It took two and a half weeks.
Devoid, as it is, of analysis, Obama's op-ed reads just like a campaign speech. This comes as no surprise. Obama's accomplishments are limited mainly to producing and delivering this sort of set-piece. He knows how to campaign; he doesn't yet know how to govern.
Alberto Alesina of Harvard published a major long-term study of fiscal policy changes in 18 economies in The American Economic Review, September 2002.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

The end of the speech: At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:

Killfile had a great idea, relating XHTML to politics. Let's expand on it. It appears the transition between the Bush and Obama administrations is going very well. Why shouldn't it? A Progressive is following a Progressive. Since so, the transition is essentially seamless.
